Our students participate in Youth America Grand Prix(YAGP) every year. Other competitions include California Dance Classics, Los Angeles Music Center Spotlight Competition.
Norika Matsuyama, former Soloist of San Francisco Ballet received Grand Prix Award & Ms. Uta Graf-Apostol, Director Emeritus received "Outstanding Teacher Award". in 2009 youth America Grand Prix(YAGP).
Christine Ng(16) was awarded Bronze medal in Senior Classical Category and top 12 in both Classical & Contemporary category. She was invited to Final competition in Tampa.
We offer a comprehensive and well-rounded ballet curriculum that is based on the Vaganova method. Our classes focus on developing technique, musicality, and artistry, and are designed to challenge and inspire our students at every level.

What makes PVB’s Little Dancers program so special is how it emphasizes fundamental skills for children ages 3-6, such as listening and following skills, spatial awareness, musicality, and creativity, all while introducing them to ballet basics and having a lot of fun in the process! Their daughter Marie Plecha was our student under the direction of Director Emeritus, Uta Graf-Apostol. After she graduated from high school, Marie earned her B.A. degree in political science from Dartmouth College and her J.D. degree from the University of Chicago. Marie now works as a litigation attorney in Chicago. She is a marathon runner and enjoys attending performances of the Joffrey Ballet.
Founded in 1955, Palos Verdes Ballet is the oldest established classical ballet company in the South Bay with an extensive history and reputation for creating talented, strong classical ballet dancers. Each year, Scholarship Committee selects carefully on Scholarship recipients.
In 2025, we awarded Brigida Giancaspero Scholarship Award to 4 students.
Each students established their ballet education through our ballet classes, performances as well as given the opportunity to study at prestigious ballet summer programs.
We are very proud of our students for their accomplishments.

Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and fund our mission to create one of a kind ballet productions for our community, student dancers and inability to invite prestigious ballet artists from all over the world!
Sae Rom moved to U.S. and trained exclusively at Palos Verdes Ballet with Uta Graf-Apostol.
She received early training from Yewon Art School in Seoul, Korea and National Ballet of Korea on full scholarship.
She has been a Rehearsal Mistress for the entire Palos Verdes Ballet Repertoire and a member of Colorado Ballet.
Her repertoire includes Dying Swan, the title role in Giselle, Myrtha, the title role in Cinderella, Sugarplum Fairy in the Nutcracker, Marie Taglioni in Grand Pas de Quatre, Diana in Diana & Action, Walpurgisnacht, Aurora in Sleeping Beauty, Odette and Odile in Swan Lake and much more. she was chosen to compete in 2003 New York International Competition under direction of Ilona Copen where she worked with Martin Van Hamel, Antonette D'antuono, Christopher Lund, Eva Klobberg. Other teachers include, Irina Jacobson, Marat Daukaev, Hae Shik Kim, Tae Ji Choi. She performed with Joseph Phillips of American Ballet Theatre, Marat Daukaeve, Adonis Daukaev of Kirov Ballet, Sayat Asatryan, Alexei Borovik, Denis Gronostayskiy, Misha Tchoupakov, Alexander Greschenko of Bolshoi Ballet. Her training includes years of summer intensive at San Francisco Ballet, received scholarships from Vail Academy and Kirov Ballet Academy Washington D. C. She has also appeared as a Guest Artist throughout the country. Strickland has coached students participating in the Youth American Grand Prix and Los Angeles County Spotlight Awards since 2003, including alumna, Norika Matsuyama, Soloist of San Francisco Ballet who was 2009 Grand Prix Award recipient of Youth America Grand Prix(YAGP). In 2020 Sae Rom was appointed as the Director of Palos Verdes Ballet.
