Our students participate in Youth America Grand Prix(YAGP) every year. Other competitions include California Dance Classics, Los Angeles Music Center Spotlight Competition.
Norika Matsuyama, now Soloist of San Francisco Ballet received Grand Prix Award & Ms. Uta Graf-Apostol, Director Emeritus received "Outstanding Teacher Award". in 2009 youth America Grand Prix(YAGP).
Christine Ng(16) was awarded Bronze medal in Senior Classical Category and top 12 in both Classical & Contemporary category. She was invited to Final competition in Tampa.
We are very proud of our students! Samantha Kim(12) got placed in top 12 in Junior Classical Category.

Founded in 1955, Palos Verdes Ballet is the oldest established classical ballet company in the South Bay with an extensive history and reputation for creating talented, strong classical ballet dancers. For more information on how to become a part of the ballet legacy of the only exclusive classical ballet studio on the Palos Verdes Peninsula.
We honor our founder Ms. Fay Gillette and the devoted teacher and dancer, Brigida Giancaspero for their dedication, commitment and passion for our organization.

2023 Fay Gillet Scholarship recipient is
Christine NG(16). Christine has been a student of Palos Verdes Ballet since at the age of 4. She has participated in every production since 5 years old.Her Repertoire included, The title role in Giselle, Myrtha, Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker, the title role in the Firebird, Princess Nadeshda. She received full scholarship to Colorado Ballet Academy summer intensive, Bolshoi Ballet Academy, attended School of American Ballet (SAB), San Francisco Ballet summer intensive. she was semi-finalist of Los Angeles Music Center Spotlight Award Competition and was awarded 3rd place in Senior Classical category from Youth America Grand Prix, and top 12 in both classical and contemporary category. she was 2022 Brigida Giancaspero Scholarship Recipient.

Amy Shultz received "Outstanding Student" Award. Amy has been training at Palos Verdes Ballet since the age of 3. She is now 12 years old, has been performing in every production since the age of 5. Her consistency and commitment shines through her dancing.

Performing arts on stage offer a captivating blend of talent, creativity, and emotion, creating a unique experience for both performers and the audience. Sae Rom moved to U.S. and trained exclusively at Palos Verdes Ballet with Uta Graf-Apostol.
She received early training from Yewon Art School in Seoul, Korea and National Ballet of Korea on full scholarship.
She has been a Rehearsal Mistress for the entire Palos Verdes Ballet Repertoire and a member of Colorado Ballet.
Her repertoire includes Dying Swan, the title role in Giselle, Myrtha, the title role in Cinderella, Sugarplum Fairy in the Nutcracker, Marie Taglioni in Grand Pas de Quatre, Diana in Diana & Action, Walpurgisnacht, Aurora in Sleeping Beauty, Odette and Odile in Swan Lake and much more. she was chosen to compete in 2003 New York International Competition under direction of Ilona Copen where she worked with Martin Van Hamel, Antonette D'antuono, Christopher Lund, Eva Klobberg. Other teachers include, Irina Jacobson, Marat Daukaev, Hae Shik Kim, Tae Ji Choi. She performed with Joseph Phillips of American Ballet Theatre, Marat Daukaeve, Adonis Daukaev of Kirov Ballet, Sayat Asatryan, Alexei Borovik, Denis Gronostayskiy, Misha Tchoupakov, Alexander Greschenko of Bolshoi Ballet. Her training includes years of summer intensive at San Francisco Ballet, received scholarships from Vail Academy and Kirov Ballet Academy Washington D. C. She has also appeared as a Guest Artist throughout the country. Strickland has coached students participating in the Youth American Grand Prix and Los Angeles County Spotlight Awards since 2003, including alumna, Norika Matsuyama, Soloist of San Francisco Ballet who was 2009 Grand Prix Award recipient of Youth America Grand Prix(YAGP). In 2020 Sae Rom was appointed as the Director of Palos Verdes Ballet.
